I Will Praise Thee
About the song:
I was asked to give a talk on Gratitude, and so I had a lot of thoughts in preparing my talk. The choir also needed a musical number that could be prepared in a short time. This song was written for our ward choir, but it is also a song of Gratitude for how richly blessed I truly am. I am constantly amazed at how much I take for granted, whether it be the house I live in, the food that I eat, or even simple everyday things like being able to use my hands, to see. There is so much to be thankful for.

Lyrics:
When ten lepers were cleansed
only one returned
to thank the Lord for giving him
the blessing he had yearned.
"Where are the nine," the savior asked,
"Were there not ten?"
He told us to be grateful
and thankful to the end
I will praise Thee with a song
Filled with gratitude to Thee.
For Thy love and constant care,
Always with me, Always there.
Let my heart show of my praise
Serving Thee in all my days
All I have I give to Thee
Loving Father, I thank Thee.
Each time I acknowledge
what thou hast done
My gratitude increases for ev'ryone
I want to serve my neighbors and family
And share the gosple message,
so others may believe
Chorus
I will praise Thee with my voice
In my heart, I've made the choice
All I am, I give to Thee,
Loving Father, I thank Thee
When ten lepers were cleansed
only one returned
to thank the Lord for giving him
the blessing he had yearned.

Add CommentWe are singing "I Will Praise Thee" today in Sacrament Meeting. Our Choir, as our director often tells us, is the epitome of a ward choir. It includes people who have been professionally trained to some primary and youth that come each week with parents. The sound that this mixed choir can produce is so uplifting to me. One morning when I was listening to Music and the Spoken Word, just before it was over, I felt the prompt: go to choir. At the time the ward choir was practicing in a home around the corner and started at the time the choir broadcast ended. So without thinking I turned off the TV and walked over. From that day on I have enjoyed what my friend in the choir calls "music therapy". It has been two and a half years now. The director seems to pick the songs that have a line or message that are just for me. I am so grateful to the director for her inspired selections. Sometimes I wake up in the night
